Three Alabama players - including starting left guard Deonte Brown - didn't travel to the Orange Bowl after violating team rules, the school announced, according to Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News.

Two reserves, tight end Kedrick James and offensive lineman Elliot Baker, were also suspended and left at home.

Brown, a third-year sophomore, started five games for Alabama this season while appearing in 12 contests overall. In his place, Lester Cotton will likely rejoin the starting lineup.

The No. 1 Crimson Tide will meet the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the College Football Playoff National Championship.
