Oklahoma's Murray takes over as Heisman betting favorite
Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has moved to top spot among betting favorites for the 2018 Heisman Trophy. The award is set to be presented in New York, N.Y. on Saturday night.
It's the first time all season Murray has been the favorite in both the legal and offshore markets, according to Ben Fawkes of ESPN. He opened the season tied for seventh at 20-1 odds.
Murray surpassed incumbent favorite, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, with a strong performance in the Big 12 title game against Texas last weekend. Tagovailoa struggled in the SEC championship game against Georgia.
The duo began the betting week tied with -115 odds to win at FanDuel Sportsbook in New Jersey, but Murray has been bet down to as low as -220 odds to win at online book 5Dimes.
Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins trails both Murray and Tagovailoa by a wide margin across all books.
