Michigan wide receivers coach Jim McElwain has been hired as Central Michigan's new head coach, sources told Evan Petzold of CMLife.
McElwain, who was Florida's coach from 2015-17, will be officially announced on Monday, according to Brett McMurphy of Stadium.
The 56-year-old went 19-8 across his first two seasons with the Gators, but was fired after a 3-4 start to the 2017 campaign.
McElwain will now take over a program coming off a 1-11 season under John Bonamego.
