Massachusetts head coach Mark Whipple has been relieved of his duties, a source told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.
The Minutemen are fresh off a 66-27 loss to No. 5 Georgia on Saturday, and they end their season with a 4-8 record for the second consecutive year.
UMass has gone 16-44 under Whipple over the last five seasons.
This was Whipple's second stint as the school's head coach. Between 1998 and 2003, he compiled a 49-26 record and won the NCAA Division I-AA national title.
