Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh named Shea Patterson his team's starting quarterback, spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed Monday.

Harbaugh made the announcement at the M Club of Ann Arbor luncheon.

Patterson transferred to Michigan from Ole Miss in December 2017. During the 2017 season, he completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 2,259 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

The junior quarterback edged Brandon Peters, Dylan McCaffrey, and Joe Milton for the starting gig.

He's considered a potential first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
