Report: Jackson still on team, not suspended by Virginia Tech

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

Despite rampant rumors and an ominous quote from his father Thursday, Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson hasn't been suspended and is still a member of the team, a source told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Jackson, however, may still be on shaky ground with the Hokies because of an academic problem, as was previously reported. Still, he's been participating in Virginia Tech's voluntary workout program at the team's football facility, a source told Matt Fortuna of The Athletic.

Fred Jackson, Josh's father, was vague about his son's status when asked about it Thursday.

"As of right now, Josh is still a member of the Virginia Tech football team," he told Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "We'll know more in two days. It's too early to talk about this."

Jackson performed admirably as a freshman, throwing for 2,743 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight picks, leading the Hokies to a nine-win campaign.
