Lincoln Riley is set to bring in $3.1 million in salary for the upcoming season, but he may not be the highest-paid man in the Oklahoma locker room.

Quarterback Kyler Murray was selected No. 9 overall by the Oakland Athletics in this week's MLB amateur draft, meaning the former five-star recruit's signing bonus is worth nearly $4.8 million.

If he signs, that figure would put Murray ahead of every coach in the Big 12 in terms of compensation except Texas' Tom Herman (about $5.5 million) and TCU's Gary Patterson (about $5.1 million).

NCAA rules allow a player to make money in one sport while remaining eligible in another, and it's not the first time something like this has happened. Brandon Weeden played years of minor-league baseball before heading to Oklahoma State to play quarterback.

Murray is expected to start for the Sooners as Baker Mayfield's replacement when the season begins Sept. 1.
