Jim Harbaugh and Michigan will visit South Africa in 2019, continuing the program's budding tradition of international spring trips.

"We're going to Johannesburg and Cape Town and we're going to do a safari," Harbaugh told a local radio station in Ann Arbor, according to Nick Baumgardner of the Detroit Free Press. "How about that? How about a safari? I'm looking forward to it."

Last spring, the Wolverines held part of their spring practice in Italy. This spring, the team went to France, but the adventure didn't include any football. Both trips - which are optional for players and include an educational and cultural component - were covered financially by the school's donors.

"Both (Italy and France) were great. Both experiences were unbelievably good," said Harbaugh, who's entering his fourth year as head coach of the Wolverines. "Look forward to doing it again next year."

Cuba, Greece, and Spain were among the other possible 2019 destinations before the team settled on South Africa.
