Texas A&M's Laufenberg declared cancer-free

Thomas Campbell-US PRESSWIRE

Luke Laufenberg got some incredible news Friday, as the Texas A&M tight end was declared cancer-free after a battle with Burkitt Leukemia.

According to Brian Perroni of 247 Sports, Laufenberg was originally diagnosed with the flu in December, only to be told by doctors that he had the rare form of cancer. With the disease affecting 95 percent his bone marrow, Laufenberg immediately began chemotherapy treatments.

Laufenberg opted to join the Aggies as a walk-on in the class of 2016 when his high school quarterback, Nick Starkel, signed on to play with the SEC program.
