The Los Angeles city attorney's office has filed five misdemeanor counts against USC receiver Joseph Lewis relating to two separate domestic violence incidents, a spokesman told ESPN's Kyle Bonagura.

Lewis, a highly touted recruit who was ranked as ESPN's top receiver in the class of 2017, was arrested on domestic battery charges in February. The DA later declined to file felony charges, but the wideout still has some legal hurdles to overcome.

According to Frank Mateljan of the city attorney's office, Lewis has been charged with one count of domestic battery with an injury for an incident that occurred on Feb. 5, and another two counts of the same charge for a separate incident that led to his arrest on Feb. 12. Lewis also faces one count of false imprisonment and domestic battery without an injury, according to Mateljan.

In the wake of the arrest, USC suspended Lewis from all football-related activities.

Additionally, Lewis did not appear on the Trojans' official spring practice roster when it was released Monday. His indefinite suspension from the program remains in effect.
