Dantonio's contract renews, extending him through 2023 season

The Michigan State board of trustees allowed head coach Mark Dantonio's rolling contract to renew Friday without discussion, extending him through the 2023 season, according to Kim Kozlowski of the Detroit News.

Dantonio's contract automatically tacks an additional year onto the end of his deal annually, keeping him tied to the Spartans for no more or less than six years at all times.

The coach has been embroiled in controversy this offseason since an explosive ESPN report suggested he'd mishandled sexual misconduct complaints made against numerous players during his tenure. Dantonio has denied any wrongdoing.

Michigan State posted a 10-3 record in 2017, and is 100-45 under Dantonio.
