Report: Hugh Freeze spotted at Alabama facility

Shanna Lockwood / USA TODAY Sports

Former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze was present at the Alabama football facility Monday and he's interested in joining the program in any capacity, a source told Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports.

Alabama is in need of a new offensive coordinator - its fourth in 14 months - after Brian Daboll took the same job with the Buffalo Bills. It hasn't been confirmed whether Freeze formally interviewed for the Crimson Tide's coordinator vacancy.

Freeze routinely featured high-octane offenses at Ole Miss, and is one of a select number of coaches with multiple wins over Nick Saban as a head coach. He faces a two-game suspension as a head coach stemming from his NCAA recruiting violations case while at Ole Miss, but wouldn't have to miss any time as an assistant.

Saban, meanwhile, is famous for hiring controversial figures and giving them a "redemption tour" on his staff. Freeze, who went 39-25 with the Rebels, was fired in July after the school discovered calls on his phone records to escort services.
