Some athletes will go to great lengths to play the game they love, even if it means playing through serious injury. Josh Jacobs is the latest example.

The Alabama running back announced Thursday he will undergo surgery for a broken ankle on Friday, and that he played through the injury since the Crimson Tide's Week 5 matchup against Ole Miss.

The sophomore's production was cut almost in half from a year ago, with fellow running backs Damien Harris, Bo Scarbrough, and Najee Harris receiving the bulk of the workload for Nick Saban's offense.

Jacobs rushed for 284 yards and one touchdown on 46 carries while reeling in 14 catches for 168 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
