The Buffalo Bills have dipped into the college ranks to fill their vacant offensive coordinator position as the team announced they are hiring Alabama's Brian Daboll for the role.

The 42-year-old is coming off a dramatic national championship win with the Crimson Tide earlier in the week, erasing a 13-point deficit with backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at the helm in the second half.

Daboll has extensive NFL experience, spending 17 years in the professional ranks in various roles. He has five Super Bowl rings as a member of the New England Patriots staff in two separate stints. He has also served as offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and Kansas City Chiefs.

The veteran coach has his work cut out for him with the Bills, though, as the team ranked 22nd in the league this season by scoring just 18.9 points per contest.
