LSU's Etling: I'm an NFL-caliber QB

His passing numbers might not wow pro scouts, but LSU quarterback Danny Etling is confident he'll find success at the next level.

"Do I think I can play in the NFL? Yeah," Etling said to reporters Monday, courtesy Mike Gegenheimer of The Advocate. "Why not?"

Etling, a senior, has been benched at times this year when the Tigers have needed an offensive spark, but he's quietly thrived when asked only to manage the game. The 6-foot-2 signal-caller has committed just two interceptions on the season, and has 22 touchdowns against seven picks over the last two years.

"People thought I couldn't play in the SEC when I first got here, and when I was in high school, people thought I couldn't play in the Big Ten," said Etling, who began his career at Purdue. "I've kind of made a career of moving forward even though everyone is saying I can't."

Etling will lead LSU into its regular-season finale Saturday versus Texas A&M.
