Saban praises Smart for doing 'fabulous job' with Georgia

Nick Saban's opinion carries as much weight as anybody's in college football, so it has to make Kirby Smart feel good to hear the praise his former boss heaped upon him Wednesday.

With No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia seemingly on a collision course for the SEC Championship game, Saban took the time to acknowledge the job Smart has done in just two years with the Bulldogs.

"I think he has done a great job," Saban told Rainer Sabin of AL.com. "I think they have probably one of the best teams in our league right now. They're playing great on both sides of the ball. They play together. They're confident in what they're doing. They look very well coached on both sides of the ball. I think he has done a fabulous job, no question about it."

It's quickly becoming apparent that the two programs are the class of the SEC, combining for a perfect 14-0 overall record with an 8-0 mark in conference play. Georgia's combined scoreline in conference play is 170-45, a mark only bettered by Alabama's incredible 193-31 total.

Should the schools meet in the SEC Championship game, Saban has to feel good about his chances for another title. The legendary head coach is now 11-0 against former assistants with an absurd overall score of 427-111.
