Mike Leach: 'I don't have any plan' to follow AD to Nebraska

Washington State head coach Mike Leach on Monday threw water on growing speculation he could follow former athletic director Bill Moos to Nebraska.

"I don't have any plan to do that," he told reporters, according to Stefanie Loh of the Seattle Times. "They already have a head coach there, he's a pretty good one. Mike Riley."

Moos, who hired Leach at Washington State and shared a strong working partnership with him, abruptly left the Cougars on Sunday and was named Nebraska's new athletic director.

While being introduced by the Cornhuskers, Moos said he'll give Riley whatever support he can between now and the end of the season, but stopped well short of guaranteeing his job security beyond 2017.

"He's the best AD I've ever even met," Leach said of Moos, before adding he hopes to have some input in Washington State's hiring of a new athletic director.

Leach is in his sixth year with the Cougars and has turned the program from a perennial cellar dweller into a legitimate contender in the Pac-12. He previously enjoyed a long run at Texas Tech before a messy departure.
