Swinney: Clemson will be 'really cautious' with Bryant's injuries

The bye week couldn't have come at a better time for Kelly Bryant, as Clemson's star quarterback attempts to recover from both a sprained ankle and concussion.

Dabo Swinney said Bryant will not practice on Monday, and that the Tigers will exercise caution in their attempts to get the starting pivot back in action for their Oct. 28th contest against Georgia Tech.

"Hopefully by Wednesday, he's out there moving around, but we're going to be really cautious with him this week and really get him dialed in on what we're doing game plan wise," Swinney said on a conference call, as per Andrea Adelson of ESPN. "Come Wednesday, I think we'll have a much better feel for what he's going to do practice wise Wednesday and Thursday, and then they'll be off for the weekend."

Bryant battled the ankle issue in recent weeks before leaving Friday's shocking loss to Syracuse with a concussion. He's been a star for the program in his first season as a starter, throwing for 1,375 yards and four touchdowns while also running for 393 yards and recording seven rushing scores.

Despite the loss to the Orange, Clemson remains in the driver's seat for a third straight trip to the College Football Playoff, but will need to keep Bryant healthy if they hope to secure a berth. The Orange still hold their destiny in their hands with a contest against division-leading NC State looming on Nov. 4th.
