A long-standing lawsuit between LSU and former defensive coordinator John Chavis was dismissed Friday, according to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, citing obtained documents.

The suit was regarding an alleged violation of his buyout clause.

The university had previously stated that Chavis owed his $400,000 buyout as a result of leaving for Texas A&M in December of 2014 before Chavis' buyout clause ended. Chavis claimed that he did not leave prior to Feb. 1, 2015, however photos later emerged of Chavis recruiting while donning Texas A&M gear.

According to Dellenger, it was previously reported that both sides had been working towards a settlement, which may be the reason for the dismissal. Details of a possible settlement have not been revealed, and neither side offered official comment on the issue.
