Death Valley indeed: LSU is where QBs go to die

If history has taught us anything, it's that Lindsey Scott Jr. won't be the last quarterback to transfer out of LSU.

The Tigers have signed 18 pivots since 2005, and only three of them have finished their careers in Death Valley. These names ring a bell?

Jarrett Lee (2007-11)

After starting eight games his freshman season, Lee spent his sophomore and junior campaigns on the bench. He returned to the starting spotlight as a senior following Jordan Jefferson's suspension, and played well, but the Tigers went back to Jefferson after his reinstatement. LSU advanced to the BCS National Championship that season, but got shut out by Alabama, a game Lee spent watching from the bench.

Jordan Jefferson (2008-11)

Jefferson captured offensive MVP honors at the Chick-fil-A Bowl as a true freshman in 2008, and showed more positive signs in 2009, but regressed significantly in 2010 and was suspended to begin 2011. He finished his career with only one double-digit passing touchdown season. Though he could make plays with his legs, Jefferson never averaged more than 3.7 yards per carry over a single campaign.

Zach Mettenberger (2011-13)

Mettenberger began his career at Georgia, but was setting up shop at LSU by 2011, where he'd enjoy a fine tenure. Mettenberger became a two-year starter for the Tigers and led them to a pair of 10-3 campaigns. His 3,000-yard passing season in 2013 cemented him as LSU's best quarterback since Matt Flynn, and helped earn him a selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.
