Penn State fan favorite Joey Julius no longer with team

Joey Julius, the kicker who became a fan favorite at Penn State last season, is no longer with the program, a school spokesperson confirmed to Penn Live's Bob Flounders.

Julius became a social media sensation last year after he laid out Michigan's Jourdan Lewis on a kickoff return. Lewis said afterwards he felt like he'd been hit "by a nose tackle that can kick."

After his big hit on Lewis, Julius was victimized by multiple illegal shots over the next couple of weeks.

Julius, who was used as a kickoff specialist in 2016, has previously sought treatment for an eating disorder.
