Destination Morgantown: West Virginia's month of Power 5 transfers

It's one thing to dig through JUCOs, FCS schools, and Group of 5 programs in search of players looking for a brighter spotlight in which to showcase their talents, but it's another thing to swipe assets straight off other Power 5 rosters.

Dana Holgorsen has done plenty of the latter this June, landing a trio of Power 5 transfers that each came to West Virginia with three seasons of eligibility and a chance to help keep the Mountaineers in Big 12 contention for years to come.

Destination: Morgantown, West Virginia

T.J. Simmons, WR
- Morgantown via Alabama

Simmons announced his transfer Sunday in what was a surprising development since he appeared to be on the cusp of securing a decent role in Alabama's offense ahead of his sophomore season. He should help replenish a West Virginia receiving corps in 2018 that was on track to look awfully thin.

Jovani Haskins, TE
- Morgantown via Miami

The Mountaineers got virtually zero production from their tight ends in the passing game last year, so Haskins should have an opportunity to at least get snaps when he's eligible next year. Holgorsen has clearly eyed Haskins for a while, as West Virginia hosted him on an official visit before he committed to Miami as a 2016 recruit.

Jack Allison, QB
- Morgantown via Miami

Despite falling out of favor at The U, Allison was one of the top quarterback prospects in the class of 2016, signing with the Hurricanes as the 68th-ranked overall recruit on the ESPN 300. He'll have ample time to learn Holgorsen's system and could easily become the heir apparent to Will Grier - who, coincidentally, also transferred to Morgantown from a Power 5 school.
