20-year-old JUCO student fakes his entire NCAA football recruitment

Unique Brissett II is a 20-year-old junior college student from the Bronx, but, despite his best efforts to prove otherwise, he is not a highly touted college football recruit.

The Westchester Community College student created an online persona that saw him pose as a wide receiver for the Globe Institute of Technology, fielding offers from schools such as Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, and Penn State.

Brissett's online scheme blew up earlier this week when Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports reported that Miami had not contacted the receiver at all, despite his claims otherwise. Kentucky coaches quickly chimed in with the same report, and Michigan State reporter Luke Srodulski uncovered that Brissett's tweets from a visit to the Spartans' campus were actually stolen from another recruit.

The hoax may be over, but Brissett is certainly not ashamed of the entire situation, explaining he and his brother came up with the elaborate scheme.

"Well me and my brother was watching college football and Hudl's and stuff," Brissett told the New York Post in a Twitter message. "We was talking about it and then we both agreed we would do it (get fake offers) then we was talking about what was our favorite college teams and then we started lying about the offers."

So, don't expect Brissett to be suiting up for any team next season, but it's a safe bet his story will be a cautionary tale for recruiting directors to do their homework on each potential player.
