The Lane Kiffin era at Florida Atlantic is off and running, and has its first signee.
The incoming coach inked ex-Florida State quarterback De'Andre Johnson to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, a day after the Owls introduced Kiffin as their new leader.
"They have a great coach, a great president, a great message," Johnson told Justin Barney of The Florida Times-Union as he put pen to paper. "I'm honored that they want me as part of it."
Johnson, a former four-star recruit, attended Florida State in 2015, but was dismissed after a video surfaced that showed him punching a woman in the face during an altercation at a bar. He spent the 2016 season at East Mississippi Community College, the junior college profiled in the Netflix series, "Last Chance U."
Kiffin, who's spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Alabama, was known to be pursuing Johnson as a junior college transfer for the Crimson Tide.
Johnson was the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the class of 2015, per the ESPN 300. He'll have three seasons of eligibility left.
