A once promising career for Florida Atlantic linebacker Robert Relf has come to an end.

Relf was victim to multiple injuries over the course of his college career, and the physical toll had reached the point of being too much to overcome, according to Shandel Richardson of The Sun Sentinel.

"Really, it was just getting too much to recover from," head coach Charlie Partridge said. "We'll miss Robert. I think a lot of him as a person and he had a lot of potential as a player."

Relf's freshman season in 2013 was cut short due to injury, and a shoulder injury ended his 2015 season in the season opener. The multitude of various injuries over his career was the deciding factor according to Partridge.

"(Relf) had multiple injuries," Partridge said. "He had shoulder, hand, hip, and other ailments. Our linebacker group is in a much deeper place than it was a year ago, but we'll miss Robert for sure."

The 2014 season was Relf's best with the Owls, as he finished the year fourth on the team with a total of 65 tackles.
