LSU's live tiger mascot, Mike IV, has been diagnosed with a rare and inoperable form of cancer called spindle cell sarcoma, the school announced Monday.
Mike's veterinarian, David Baker, put together an innovative treatment plan that includes stereotactic radiotherapy, which delivers highly focused radiation to the tumor. Without treatment, he could only live one-to-two months; with treatment, his life could be extended by one-to-two years.
In the meantime, the LSU community is rallying around Mike.
