Fred Brown's career at Mississippi State is over, as the wide receiver has been dismissed from the university for violating the school's honor code.
Brown was the team's third-leading receiver in 2015, catching 27 balls for 412 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-1 junior was expected to see an increased role in 2016 with De'Runnya Wilson heading to the NFL.
The 22-year-old missed last weekend's spring practice with what coach Dan Mullen called a "family-related matter." His dismissal means the Bulldogs are currently without their top four pass-catchers from last season. Wilson's departed for the professional ranks, while Fred Ross and Donald Gray are both sidelined with injuries.
