Report: Arizona State targets Duke assistant Jeff Capel as next coach, sides meet
Mark D Smith-US PRESSWIRE
Arizona State is hoping to snatch a branch off Coach K's coaching tree.
The Sun Devils reportedly met with Duke assistant coach Jeff Capel on Monday and the meeting was said to have gone well, according to Gary Parrish of CBS Sports.
It's expected the Sun Devils' job is Capel's "if he wants it" and the sides will meet again, but it looks like nothing will be completed before the conclusion of Duke's season.
Capel spent nine seasons as a head coach, serving as the lead man in VCU and Oklahoma. He has been on the bench, serving under Mike Krzyzewski, as an assistant at Duke since 2011.
The Blue Devils meet Michigan State in the Final Four on Saturday.
