Former Houston F TaShawn Thomas transfers to Oklahoma
Former University of Houston forward TaShawn Thomas says he is transferring to Oklahoma.
Thomas informed the Houston Chronicle of his plans on Sunday after being granted his conditional release under heavy restrictions last month following the hiring of Kelvin Sampson.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward said he chose Oklahoma over Miami (Fla.).
"It was a tough choice," Thomas said. "I feel I could have made a good decision with either one. I felt like Oklahoma was the best choice for me with only one year left."
Thomas was Houston's leading scorer (15.4 points per game) and rebounder (8.4) last season, shooting 59.1 percent from the field and posted eight double-doubles. His play earned a second-team American Athletic Conference selection.
In three seasons with the Cougars, Thomas averaged 14.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
