The West Virginia Mountaineers upset the eighth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks in Morgantown on Saturday, 92-86.

The win came despite a brilliant performance by Kansas star freshman Andrew Wiggins, who saved his best game for last, scoring 41 points on 12-of-18 shooting, adding eight rebounds, five steals, four blocks, and two assists in a losing effort.

The Jayhawks trailed the Mountaineers by as much as 24 in the second half, but clawed their way back to make things competitive in the closing moments, getting to within five points with better than two minutes to play.

Kansas had an idea early on that this just wasn't there day. This sequence in the first half saw Andrew Wiggins block a shot and appear to put Kansas in position to run in transition, but instead, a teammate whiffed on the ball and it ended up as an easy bucket for West Virginia's Devin Williams.

West Virginia had three players score better than 20 points in the game, getting 28 from Eron Harris, 24 from Juwan Staten, and 22 from Williams.

The win is a real shot in the arm to West Virginia's at large hopes, while it likely ends any hopes Kansas had of being a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
