John Calipari fires back at Rick Pitino for criticism of social media use by players
RIck Pitino has been very vocal over his objection to players using social media in recent days. Pitino appeared on ESPN's "Mike & Mike" on Wednesday. On Thursday, John Calipari, head coach of rival Kentucky, fired back in his own appearance on the same program.
“The coaches you mentioned [Pitino, Tom Izzo], they know nothing about social media. Nothing. They don’t do it. They feel it’s another job. ... What we are trying to tell those kids [is], Hey, you build your brand or you break your brand down. For anyone to say [about social media], ‘Don’t do it ... it’s crazy.’ I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Many Kentucky fans still hate Pitino after he left Kentucky and wound up in Louisville, so any shots Calipari sends his way will surely score him brownie points with the Wildcats' fan base.
