UConn's Castle declares for NBA draft

UConn freshman Stephon Castle will bypass his remaining college eligibility and enter the 2024 NBA Draft, his agents told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Castle is widely expected to be a lottery pick in June's event.

The 6-foot-6 wing took home the Big East's Rookie of the Year award and earned a spot on the NCAA Tournament's All-Region team during the Huskies' championship run.

Castle got off to a bumpy start to his Huskies tenure, averaging 9.4 points and hitting 21% of his threes through his first 13 games. He slowly worked his way into form and became one of the team's most indispensable players.

The five-star recruit finished his campaign with averages of 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per contest and was often used as UConn's main perimeter defender throughout its dominant March Madness.

However, his shooting remained an issue, finishing the season at just 26.7% from beyond the arc.
