LeBron: Bronny is rehabbing, plans to play for USC this year

USC freshman guard Bronny James has started rehabbing in hopes of playing this season after suffering a cardiac arrest in July, his father, LeBron James, told The Athletic's Jovan Buha.

"Bronny is doing extremely well," LeBron said.

"To see what he's been through ... over the last few months, it's been a lot," James added, per The Washington Post's Ben Golliver. "I can only imagine how it's been for him because it's been a lot for me, it's been a lot for our family. ... It's a beautiful thing to be able to have him where he is today."

The Los Angeles Lakers star says he's dedicating his 21st NBA season to his son.

"At that point in time, the only thing in life that matters is your family," James said.

Bronny's cardiac arrest was determined to likely have been caused by a congenital heart defect after a comprehensive evaluation was completed on the 18-year-old.

Trojans head coach Andy Enfield said in August that Bronny was progressing well and had started to attend classes at USC.

James said watching his sons Bronny and Bryce play basketball was the main source of motivation to return for his 21st season after considering stepping away from the NBA after the Lakers were swept in the Western Conference finals. He feels like he has "a lot more left in the tank," according to Buha.

While James doesn't know if this will be his last season in the league, he confirmed that he does have an interest in playing for Team USA at the 2024 Olympics, according to Buha.

Only six players have appeared in at least 21 seasons in the NBA. Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Robert Parish, and Kevin Willis all reached that mark, while Vince Carter holds the record for most seasons played with 22.
