K-State's Johnson cleared for NBA draft selection

Kansas State wing Keyontae Johnson has been cleared by the NBA's Fitness to Play panel, allowing him to be selected in June's NBA draft, his representation told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Johnson is now eligible to travel and work out for prospective teams, who were informed of his clearance earlier Friday. Teams interviewed him at the draft combine in Chicago last week.

As a member of Florida, Johnson collapsed on the court in a matchup against Florida State in December 2020. He spent three days in a medically induced coma and was diagnosed with a heart condition.

Johnson appeared in one more game as a Gator, a ceremonial start in March 2022 on senior day.

He transferred to Kansas State after medical personnel cleared him to play again. In his final season, Johnson averaged 17.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and a steal - earning a third-team All-American selection and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

The Wildcats advanced to the Elite Eight before they were eliminated by Florida Atlantic.
