Ex-Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard transferring to Gonzaga
Another Nembhard is joining Gonzaga.
Former Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard is transferring to the Bulldogs for next season, he told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
Ryan's older brother, Andrew, played two seasons at Gonzaga via transfer from Florida. The 23-year-old was drafted No. 31 overall by the Indiana Pacers last June.
Ryan averaged 12.1 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 36% from deep per game this season. The 2021 Big East Freshman of the Year helped the Bluejays reach consecutive Sweet 16 appearances.
"Winning, development, and overall happiness are all things I'm hunting," he said. "Andrew can't help me find them. I have to do that on my own. Gonzaga is the place for me, I can just tell."
The new Bulldogs point guard selected Gonzaga over Arizona, Alabama, and UCF.
"The head coaches at Arizona and Gonzaga are like family to the Nembhards," Ryan added. "They both did so much for my brother, and because of our tight relationship, I feel as strongly about them as he does. I knew before my visits to Spokane and Tucson there was no wrong answer. Both places are amazing, full of great coaches and players."
Gonzaga made it to the Elite Eight in the 2023 NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual champion UConn.
