Ed Conroy has been named the next head coach of the Citadel Bulldogs, athletic director Mike Capaccio announced Wednesday.

"I want to thank Gen. Walters and Mike Capaccio for the tremendous opportunity to be the next head basketball coach at The Citadel," Conroy said. "Ginny and I are extremely excited to return to Charleston and be a part of a city, community, and institution that means so much to our family."

Conroy replaces Duggar Baucom, who was recently dismissed by the program after seven seasons. This marks Conroy's second stint at Citadel after serving as head coach from 2006 to 2010. He also starred as a player with the Bulldogs for four seasons in the late 1980s.

More recently, Conroy was Vanderbilt's associate head coach this past season after a five-year run as an assistant at Minnesota. The 55-year-old was also Tulane's bench boss for six seasons from 2010 to 2016.

Conroy owns a 141-179 career head coaching record over 10 seasons. He began his coaching career as an assistant with NC State in 1990.

Citadel finished the 2021-22 campaign ranked ninth in the Southern Conference with a 13-18 record.
