Iowa plans to retire Luka Garza's No. 55 jersey at the conclusion of the season, the team announced Sunday.

The big man had trouble containing his emotions upon learning of the school's plans during Iowa's game against Wisconsin:

Garza has enjoyed an illustrious four-year career with the Hawkeyes. He ranks first in school history in points (2,180), offensive win share (14.5), player efficiency rating (30.2), field goals (820), and field-goal percentage (54.5).

The former four-star recruit secured numerous individual accolades following the 2019-20 season, including Big Ten Player of the Year, the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (handed out annually to college basketball's top center), first-team All-American recognition, and first-team Big Ten honors.

After finishing with a 14-19 record in his freshman season, Garza helped guide Iowa to a 62-30 mark since the start of the 2018-19 campaign.

Iowa finished the regular season ranked fifth in the nation and will look to cap off Garza's stellar career at the school with a run in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
