The nation's sixth-leading scorer in 2019-20 is headed to Michigan.

Columbia grad transfer Mike Smith has committed to the Wolverines for next season, according to Adam Zagoria of ZAGSBLOG.

Smith cited Michigan head coach Juwan Howard as a key factor in his decision.

"It's a combination of a lot of things of why I picked Michigan but I think that coach Howard is doing something real special over at Michigan and I couldn't miss the opportunity to be a part of it," Smith told Zagoria.

Smith trailed only Iowa's Luka Garza, Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis, Hampton's Jermaine Marrow, UTSA's Jhivvan Jackson, and Marquette's Markus Howard in regular-season scoring among all NCAA players this past season.

The Columbia point guard also racked up 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 37.7 minutes per game and shot 34.1% on threes.
