Illinois' Griffin suspended 2 games for stepping on Purdue player
Illinois guard Alan Griffin is suspended two games for stepping on Purdue's Sasha Stefanovic during Tuesday's contest, the Big Ten announced Thursday.
Griffin received a flagrant-2 foul and was ejected from the game in the first half following the play, which the conference later deemed to be in violation of its Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy.
"That's just absolutely ridiculous, uncalled for and he should be gone."

"After a thoughtful and thorough review of this incident, we are all extremely fortunate this did not create a hostile and unsafe environment for the players, coaches, game officials, and fans," Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren said in a statement.
"It is important for me to emphasize and make it crystal clear that such behavior will not be tolerated, period," he continued.
Griffin, who's averaging 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game on 50% shooting, will miss the Fighting Illini's upcoming games against Michigan on Saturday and Minnesota on Jan. 30.
