Report: NCAA to hit Kansas with allegations of multiple major rule violations

The NCAA is preparing to issue Kansas a notice of allegations regarding multiple major rules violations by the men's basketball program, sources told The Kansas City Star's Jesse Newell and Steve Vockrodt.

Once the NCAA's notice of allegations has been received, a school has 90 days to respond. Kansas associate athletic director Dan Beckler said the school has yet to receive official word on the matter, according to The Star.

The infractions reportedly relate to the ongoing corruption scandal that has reverberated across college basketball.

Last October, former Adidas employee T.J. Gassnola admitted he made cash payments to associates of players Billy Preston and Silvio De Sousa, apparently swaying their decisions to commit to the Adidas-affiliated Kansas. Gassnola testified that neither Jayhawks coach Bill Self nor his assistants had knowledge of the so-called pay-to-play scheme.

In June, NCAA vice president for regulatory affairs Stan Wilcox told CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd that at least six Division I men's programs would receive notices of allegations regarding Level I violations - the NCAA's most serious category of infractions - over the course of the summer.

NC State received a notice of allegations of Level I violations in July stemming from the school's recruitment of former five-star guard Dennis Smith Jr.
