ATLANTA (AP) Georgia Tech forward James Banks, a transfer from Texas, has been granted immediate eligibility from the NCAA.
The 6-foot-8 Banks played two seasons at Texas, averaging 1.7 points and 2.3 rebounds. He will have two years of eligibility with the Yellow Jackets without having to sit out a season.
Banks, a native of Decatur, Georgia, played in 32 games as a freshman and 14 games as a sophomore at Texas. He attended La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, as a high school senior.
Banks will add needed depth to Georgia Tech's front line, joining senior Abdoulaye Gueye and junior Sylvester Ogbonda.
