Kerr, McMillan, Wright named as Popovich's Team USA assistants

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Indiana Pacers head coach Nate McMillan, and Villanova bench boss Jay Wright have been selected to serve as assistant coaches for the 2019-20 USA Basketball men's national team under Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs.

The trio is expected to join Popovich for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Kerr took over as Warriors head coach in 2014 and has reached the NBA Finals every season since, winning three championships. He was named the 2016 NBA Coach of the Year when Golden State won an NBA-record 73 games.

McMillan has been coaching in the Association since 1999 and landed his first head coaching gig in 2000 with the Seattle SuperSonics. He took over as the leading man for the Pacers in 2016 and helped Indiana to 48 wins last season.

Wright is among the longest-tenured coaches in college basketball. He's held his position with Villanova since 2001 and has led the school to prominence, winning two national championships. He's twice been honored as the Naismith College Coach of the Year.
