Michigan, Cal, Marquette investigating athletes for possibly reselling shoes

Jordan Brand

Michigan, Cal, and Marquette are investigating whether their student-athletes resold school-provided shoes to a retailer, which would violate NCAA rules and could affect their eligibility.

The investigations began after North Carolina, which suspended 13 football players for reselling Air Jordan sneakers to the same retailer, contacted its rival institutions about the possible infraction. The retailer told North Carolina it had purchased shoes from the other schools, a source told ESPN's Darren Rovell and Nick DePaula.

There's no clear indication that any players at the three schools actually committed wrongdoing. It's also unknown whether the athletes in question come from the football program, the basketball program, or a mixture of both.
