Michigan will be without its head coach on the team's trip to Spain later in August.
John Beilein underwent a scheduled double-bypass procedure at U-M's Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center, the school announced in a release Tuesday.
"The operation went well, and we expect him to make a full recovery and be back to his usual activities within a few weeks," said surgeon Francis D. Pagani.
As he recovers, assistant coach Saadi Washington will serve as Wolverines head coach on the team's overseas trip from Aug. 17-26.
Michigan is coming off a program-record 33-win season that culminated with an appearance in the national title game.
