Canada has invited 18-year-old swingman R.J. Barrett, the No. 1 high-school recruit of 2018, to be part of its training camp roster for this summer's batch of FIBA qualifiers.

Barrett was named Naismith High School Player of the Year after leading Florida's Monteverde Academy to a 35-0 record and a U.S. national championship. He is committed to Duke for next season.

Barrett led Canada to a gold medal at the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup in 2017, a run that included a 38-point, 13-rebound outburst in a semifinal upset over Team USA.

His Montverde teammate Andrew Nembhard was also added to Canada's training camp roster. Nembhard, 18, was the 27th-ranked recruit of 2018, and is committed to Florida.

Canada will play two games in the next round of FIBA Americas qualifying: One on June 29 against the Dominican Republic, the next on July 2 against the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Their camp roster also includes NBAers Cory Joseph, Kelly Olynyk, Dwight Powell, Dillon Brooks, Khem Birch, and Andrew Nicholson, as well as former No. 1 overall draft pick Anthony Bennett.
