Report: Casey, Beilein, Udoka emerge as front-runners to coach Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are interested in continuing conversations with former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey and current Michigan head coach John Beilein for their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

San Antonio Spurs assistant Ime Udoka will also receiver further consideration, Wojnarowski added late on Monday evening.

Wojnarowski previously reported that Casey met with the Pistons to discuss the position on May 31, and that Beilein interviewed for the job on June 1.

Casey was relieved of his duties with Toronto after a 59-win season that ended with a playoff sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second consecutive year. He left the Raptors as the winningest coach in franchise history with a 373-307 record.

Beilein is coming off his second appearance in a national title game as head coach of the Wolverines following a trip to the championship contest during the 2012-13 season - both of which were defeats. A basketball lifer who began coaching in the high school ranks and rose through Division 1 at Canisius, Richmond, West Virginia, and now Michigan, the 65-year-old has a career record of 541-318 at the collegiate level.

As a player, Udoka went undrafted in 2000 and eventually stuck in the NBA from 2003-11 with the Lakers, Knicks, Trail Blazers, Spurs, and Kings, averaging 5.2 points per game for his career. He's been an assistant coach on Gregg Popovich's staff in San Antonio since 2012.
