Report: Wake Forest, coach Manning ink 6-year extension
Wake Forest isn't sweating the early results of the Danny Manning experience. In fact, the Demon Deacons are doubling down on their commitment.
While the former NBA All-Star and Kansas legend has only a 44-57 record (.436) since becoming Wake Forest head coach in 2014, Manning has reportedly signed a six-year extension, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
Five games into the 2017-18 season, Wake Forest is just 1-4, with their lone victory coming against Quinnipiac of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The Demon Deacons have made just one short-lived NCAA tournament appearance in the three seasons since Manning took over, bowing out to Kansas State in the First Four in March.
Wake Forest hasn't been ranked in the AP Poll's top 25 since Feb. 15, 2010, when they made a one-week appearance at No. 23.
