2018 prospect Simons considering NBA Draft over college

The NBA Draft pool may get a little deeper, with news that one of the top 2018 collegiate prospects - Anfernee Simons - could become draft-eligible a year earlier than anticipated.

"Some people have brought it to my attention," Simons told ESPN's Jonathon Givony. "As long as the opportunity is there, I will do it. I can see myself going to the NBA combine, if I have enough teams to actually invite me or recommend me for the combine and enough teams want to bring me for workouts."

For a non-international player to be eligible for the NBA Draft, he must be one-year removed from high school and at least 19 years old. Simons graduated last year, currently enrolled in his fifth year in high school. He turns 19 in June.

If Simons decides to skip college and enter the NBA Draft, he will be taking the same route that Milwaukee Bucks center Thon Maker took in 2016.

ESPN has Simons ranked eighth in the country in their 2018 ESPN Top 100 list.
