Washington State promotes Johnson to interim AD following Moos' departure
Washington State addressed its need for an athletic director Monday, announcing senior associate athletic director John Johnson's promotion to the position on an interim basis, according to the Spokesman Review's Theo Lawson.
"John is an outstanding administrator and a fierce advocate for the Washington State University athletics program," university president Kirk Schulz said in a statement. "I couldn't ask for a better-qualified individual to make sure that Cougar athletics continues to excel as we search for WSU's next athletic director."
Johnson's promotion comes a day after former athletic director Bill Moos accepted the same position at Nebraska. Johnson previously served as the athletic director at both Eastern Washington and Weber State.
The school confirmed that it won't consider Johnson for the permanent job.
