Louisville fires assistant without cause as FBI probe continues
Louisville announced Wednesday that men's basketball assistant coach Jordan Fair has been terminated without cause, according to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports.
The most likely impetus for the decision ties back to the ongoing FBI probes into underhanded and illegal dealings within the Louisville basketball program as it relates to recruitment.
"The University of Louisville has parted ways with assistant men's basketball coach Jordan Fair, exercising the option in his contract to terminate his employment without cause," Louisville said in their statement.
"He will continue to be paid for 30 days. Associate head men's basketball coach Kenny Johnson remains on paid administrative leave."
Fair, along with Johnson, were put on paid leave on Oct. 6. Disgraced head coach Rick Pitino has been effectively terminated, although he is officially on unpaid leave until April at the latest as the school awaits a decision from the federal government.
An unnamed Louisville assistant had a wiretapped conversation with an undercover FBI agent on July 27. However, no members of Louisville's coaching staff have been officially charged or named in the investigation.
